OBJECTIVE:
Demonstrates and guarantees exceptional customer service across all facets of the role. Accountable for comprehensive store management and achieving financial and sales targets.
Strategically plans, organizes, directs, and oversees all store functions and personnel to ensure financial and operational goals are met, adhering to Company policies and applicable laws.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Advocates for Company and Division customer service initiatives to meet or surpass customer satisfaction objectives. Effectively manages customer relations, including the resolution of complaints in a constructive manner. Promotes the philosophy of personalized service throughout all departments.
The primary responsibility is the oversight of overall store management. In this capacity, implements Company and Division merchandising, operational, and sales strategies. Communicates Company goals, policies, and procedures to department leaders and staff, ensuring adherence to these standards. Conducts weekly meetings with department heads to assess advertising, sales strategies, and store promotions. In the absence of the Store Director, ensures that a designated manager leads these meetings.
Coordinates safety initiatives and ensures the implementation of health and safety protocols among associates. Stresses the importance of compliance with safety regulations in all operational practices.
Accountable for maintaining optimal store conditions, product quality, proper labeling, and compliance with code dates across all departments.
Conducts daily evaluations of store conditions and provides coaching to associates during these inspections.Ensures adherence to Division scheduling practices.
Responsible for compliance with established policies, wage guidelines, payroll regulations, benefit plans, grooming standards, and employment laws.
Leads and participates in the recruitment and training of store personnel. Provides clear and precise guidance to department managers, supervisors, and associates.Monitors employee performance and makes personnel decisions, including hiring, termination, layoffs, promotions, and disciplinary actions, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed.
Considers input from Grocery Managers or the Assistant Store Director, if applicable, in personnel decisions.
Conducts formal evaluations of associates as needed per Division guidelines. Identifies training needs for key associates to foster future development and ensures the completion of necessary training. Cultivates and maintains positive associate morale.Oversees compliance with cash handling protocols, accurate sales accounting, and safe practices. Manages inventory levels in accordance with Division directives. Protects Company assets. Develops operational budgets and manages all in-store operational, maintenance, expense, and supply costs.
Follows established administrative procedures and ensures the completion of all required reports. Responsible for accurate inventory management of all merchandise, supplies, and equipment. Recommends improvements or repairs to store equipment and facilities to district management. Conducts or supervises inventory assessments and independent audits. Implements emergency protocols in case of equipment failures or software issues.
Fosters positive community relations. Develops and maintains effective communication channels with suppliers, Store, Division, and Corporate personnel, and unions, where relevant. Monitors market trends and competitor activities.
Reviews and approves all department schedules prior to posting to ensure adequate staffing and coverage.
Effectively addresses associate grievances, including issues of discrimination, harassment, and violations of labor laws, with support from the Human Resources Department.
Safely operates and manages all equipment and hazardous materials.Provides constructive feedback and recommendations to District and Division management teams regarding operational, personnel, and other matters.
Maintains confidentiality regarding associates, store sales, and Company information. Keeps accurate and complete records in accordance with legal and retention policies.Responsible for executing all job duties with integrity and in compliance with Company policies. Treats associates consistently, fairly, and with respect.
PHYSICAL AND GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires a substantial retail background with prior management experience in retail operations. Must possess a comprehensive understanding of Company practices, policies, and procedures.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with effective leadership and interpersonal abilities, are essential. Must be knowledgeable about every role under the Store Director's supervision. Familiarity with employment laws and workplace policies is required. Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations is essential.
Must exhibit friendliness and courtesy while taking initiative in job performance. Maintains composure when interacting with customers, colleagues, vendors, and other business partners. Must be able to focus and manage interruptions and customer complaints effectively. Engages positively with all levels of personnel, customers, vendors, agencies, and the public.
Must identify needs, challenges, and opportunities, making both short- and long-term decisions to optimize sales and profit margins. Strong business acumen and financial literacy are required. Knowledge of basic accounting principles and computer software is necessary. Must have extensive experience with profit and loss statements. Must be equipped to implement emergency procedures, including responses to equipment and software malfunctions. Familiarity with emergency protocols for natural disasters or significant incidents is necessary.
Must be able to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods. Occasionally reaches, lifts, stacks, and maneuvers objects weighing up to approximately 50 lbs. Operates, pushes, and pulls fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks. Must be prepared to temporarily cover various positions throughout the store as needed.
Mental alertness is crucial for the safe and accurate completion of work tasks.
May occasionally use cleaning supplies and chemicals.
Some overnight travel may be necessary. Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Scheduled hours will vary. Good attendance is mandatory.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
May occasionally encounter temperatures ranging from -20° Fahrenheit to 400° Fahrenheit while handling products in freezers, coolers, ovens, and hot cases. Working conditions typically involve a temperature-controlled store environment, with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions and varying temperatures.
