Key Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for verifying, classifying, auditing, and recording entries into the Statewide accounting system, CORE (Colorado Operations Resource Engine), adhering to the Fiscal Rules, Procurement Rules, Revised Statutes, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Ensuring the integrity of financial data within CORE.
  • Processing vendor invoices and supporting documents to generate payment requests.
  • Verifying the legitimacy of Accounts Payable transactions while maintaining proper accounting protocols.
  • Reviewing employee travel expense reimbursements to ensure compliance with fiscal rules and per diem allowances.
  • Matching Accounts Payable documentation, including transaction authorization, receiving reports, and vendor invoices to create an auditable package for payment approval.
  • Reconciling Accounts Payable transactions with vendor statements and inquiries.
  • Classifying Accounts Payable transactions according to agency-defined categories.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of technical accounting experience is required. This experience must be detailed in your application to meet this requirement. Technical accounting encompasses processes that record, classify, verify, and report financial transaction information.

Substitutions:
College coursework in finance, accounting, or related business fields may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Relevant years of technical accounting experience within state service.
