Position Summary

The Laboratory Operations Coordinator will oversee laboratory support functions, repair center activities, and relevant processes that facilitate daily operations. This role is essential in achieving lab objectives and meeting customer expectations by leading Calibration Laboratory Support and Repair Center personnel. The Coordinator will ensure effective communication and collaboration across all Transcat departments and with our clients. Adherence to accepted business and technical practices, company policies, and procedures is crucial, as is the safeguarding of company and customer assets, equipment, materials, and information. Exceptional customer service skills, both in-person and via phone, are essential for this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and streamline all daily administrative operations of the calibration service center, including receiving, shipping, pick-up/delivery, quoting, hold shelf, repair, external services, invoicing, and other administrative tasks.
  • Oversee daily administrative functions of the repair center, including parts inventory management, repair quotations, scheduling technician workloads, and additional administrative responsibilities.
  • Identify and resolve issues, ensuring appropriate interdepartmental collaboration for effective solutions. Follow up on all matters to ensure resolution.
  • Engage regularly with clients to address concerns and uphold a high standard of customer service excellence.
  • Perform all necessary administrative tasks to fill in gaps as required.
  • Coordinate building and vehicle maintenance as needed.
  • Assist in procuring supplies and parts, including issuing purchase orders as necessary.
  • Support the training and development of all department personnel.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of laboratory systems, processes, and roles/responsibilities.
  • Ensure outstanding customer service.
  • Eliminate workflow bottlenecks in lab support.
  • Implement continuous improvement strategies to reduce waste and variability in administrative processes.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills necessary for training and developing laboratory administrative staff.
  • Acquire skills essential for advancement into other leadership positions within the organization.
  • Uphold Transcat's Quality Policy.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) with 1-3 years of relevant experience in a commercial calibration laboratory or a comparable combination of education and experience, preferably in a technical setting.
