Job Summary: Arva Corp is seeking a skilled Pastry Cook to join our team in maintaining a superior production of breads, sweets, pastries, cakes, ice creams, sorbets, fresh fruit jams, chocolates, and other baked goods for our restaurant, special events, amenities, and banquets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend meetings and contribute to the development of production schedules and menus.
- Ensure that all menu items are consistently available and of high quality.
- Execute recipes and scaling for all items produced, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Responsible for the quality of breads, pastries, and prepared foods coming from the pastry area.
- Maintain accurate records of production, inventory, and waste management.
- Perform daily inspections of dry storage, walk-in refrigerators, and freezers to ensure cleanliness and proper storage of pastry-related items.
- Monitor and control food costs by effectively scaling ingredients, minimizing waste, and preventing theft.
- Work effectively and efficiently, with a focus on productivity and quality.
- Ensure that sanitation, hygiene, and safety standards are met at all times.
- Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and appearance.
- Ensure a safe working environment by proper use of equipment, accident prevention, and elimination of safety hazards.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with guests and staff.
- Be flexible with scheduling and willing to work until the job is done.
- Communicate with the Pastry Chef for all time off requests and scheduling.
- Adhere to all guidelines in the employee handbook.
- Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by Management.
Requirements:
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience.
- At least 2 years' experience in a pastry position.
- Thorough knowledge of pastry arts and techniques.
- Experience in chocolate making.
- Positive, engaging, and energetic personality.
- Able to be organized, manage time wisely, and work with little to no direct supervision.
- Very high attention to detail.
- Sensitive to cultural nuances.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal in English.
- Able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain a clean and professional appearance as per company policies.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Multi-lingual is a plus.
