The Registered Nurse in the Gastrointestinal Lab is accountable for nursing responsibilities associated with the care of patients undergoing Pre/Intra/Post Endoscopy or Gastroenterology procedures. This role requires the ability to operate effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced setting. Flexibility in assignments is essential. Critical thinking, strong interpersonal communication, customer service skills, a positive demeanor, and a robust work ethic are vital attributes for success in this position.

The Registered Nurse delivers care in alignment with the Nurse Practice Act and employs the nursing process grounded in research and evidence-based outcomes to fulfill patient care requirements. The primary duty of the nursing staff is to provide direct patient care and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the provision of safe, timely, and high-quality patient care. For specialized nursing units, prior experience in the specialty or the ability to successfully complete a training program is necessary. Effective communication, organizational skills, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety protocols, and infection control are crucial. The ability to follow instructions and possess knowledge of the age of the population served, along with additional skills and equipment knowledge, may be required for employment in certain patient care departments. The nurse is expected to maintain a professional image in communication, appearance, and conduct, supporting the mission of the Patient Care Services Division. Participation in the continuous quality improvement process is expected. A working knowledge of departmental and hospital standards, policies, and procedures is essential. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Job Requirements:

• Active, Current California RN License
• ACLS & BLS Certifications
• 2 years of recent RN experience in an acute care hospital

Job Preferences:

• Specialty Certification
• Experience with ERCP and EUS is advantageous

• GI Lab Experience

• Demonstrates effective communication, organizational skills, knowledge of proper body mechanics, safety measures, infection control, and the ability to follow instructions. Knowledge of the age of the population served and additional skills and equipment knowledge may be required for hire into some patient care departments.

• If a BSN has not been obtained upon hire, the Clinical Nurse I must commence the BSN program within one year of the hire date and complete their BSN within two years of starting the program.

  • Provides high-quality nursing care to all patients in accordance with the California Nurse Practice Act and professional regulatory standards.

  • Supports the mission of the Patient Care Services Division.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education, Training, and Experience:

Required:
  • Current licensure or interim permit as a registered nurse in the state of California.
  • BLS certification is required prior to clinical rotation.
  • For specialty nursing units, experience in the specialty or the ability to successfully complete a training program is required.
