Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Academic Advisor and Student Recruitment Coordinator to join our team at Colorado State University. This is a 12-month, full-time Administrative Professional position.

Job Duties
  • Coordinate recruitment and enrollment of prospective first-year, change of major, and transfer students in alignment with the Construction Engineering program priorities and requirements.
  • Represent the Construction Engineering program at university, college, and unit-level recruitment events and related opportunities, and perform duties as assigned.
  • Develop and implement strategies to strengthen partnerships with high schools and community colleges to support student recruitment to the Construction Engineering program at CSU.
  • Market and coordinate university, college, and Construction Engineering events, as well as external events, with prospective students and their families so that they can make an informed decision regarding a major in construction engineering.
  • Participate in relevant department committees, seek input from faculty and staff to plan and execute recruitment events, and develop and oversee recruitment budgets.
  • Liaise with various offices across the college and university to successfully coordinate recruitment activities.
  • Coordinate with Communications Manager to maintain printed, web-based, and social media marketing and materials.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, interactive workshops, and activities to various audiences to support recruitment efforts.
  • Plan and execute summer recruitment and outreach programs for middle and high school students as determined by program priorities.
  • Advise current, incoming, and prospective Construction Engineering students on academic requirements, course registration, and administrative procedures related to academics.
  • Oversee students' academic planning, including assisting students in developing long- and short-term plans, including personalized academic and professional development/involvement plans.
  • Provide comprehensive advising at first-year and transfer student registration/orientation, establishing a working advising relationship through graduation.
  • Apply an equitable advising framework to advising practices, focusing on ensuring students have access to academic and co-curricular resources based on their needs and requirements for academic success.
  • Utilize existing data to inform strategic individual advising, understand subpopulations, and discern patterns of student success and difficulty.
  • Advise students through the program in developing, revising, and implementing a personalized academic and professional development/involvement plan.
  • Advise on, prepare, and process academic policy forms, including overrides, exceptions, appeals, study abroad, military, athletic, and other advising-related tasks.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications, Marketing, Psychology, Student Affairs, or related field.
  • At least one year of professional advising experience with undergraduate students supporting academic success efforts or equivalent experience working with high school student success programming.
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of issues facing students from underrepresented groups, experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, and commitment to diversity.
  • Availability to work flexible, non-standard hours, including some early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal, and public speaking).
  • Advanced degree in architecture, construction, engineering, or related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • At least one year of professional experience with undergraduate students coordinating engagement programming and recruitment activities at the college or high school level.
  • Proficiency in data collection and using university information systems, such as EAB Navigate, Admissions data, Institutional Research, Planning & Effectiveness dashboards, Banner, and Slate, which contribute to data-informed strategies for academic success and student recruitment.
  • Experience working with and serving the needs of underrepresented communities.
  • Experience with program and event planning, organization, and implementation.
