We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Solid Waste Supervisor to join our team at the Department of Environmental Protection. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the execution of inspection, investigation, and enforcement tasks within the Solid Waste Management Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct the daily activities of Environmental Trainees and Solid Waste Specialists to ensure the program's objectives are achieved.
  • Assign specific geographic work areas to employees, ensuring workload is distributed efficiently.
  • Evaluate the performance of team members, assessing their work performance and preparing employee Annual Performance Evaluation Reports.
  • Conduct initial investigations into complaints related to the Solid Waste Management Program, discussing them with relevant employees and working towards resolving issues or recommending suitable solutions.
  • Interview prospective employees and provide recommendations for employee selection, assessing candidates' qualifications, skills, and suitability for the position.
Requirements
  • Two years of experience as a journey-level specialist in a waste management program in the Department of Environmental Protection; or
  • Three years of experience in environmental protection and a Bachelor's Degree with major course work in biology, chemistry, or in a field closely related to environmental protection.
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's Class C Driver's License as issued by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
