Job Title: Senior Estimator

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at Associated Builders and Contractors of Connecticut. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in providing conceptual and preliminary estimating and hard-dollar bidding on assigned projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development and management of our estimating process and procedures
  • Participate in and attend pre-bid meetings, bid strategy meetings, and presentations
  • Prepare and estimate budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications
  • Evaluate offers to purchase by project requirements, additions, and costing changes
  • Resolve cost differences by analyzing and collecting information
  • Write up and present budgets, reports, and project plans
  • Work closely with architects and other design professionals
  • Schedule meetings with clients, site managers, and staff
  • Navigate and understand building codes
  • Process paperwork and travel to building sites as required
  • Monitor construction processes
  • Stay up-to-date with safety codes and improvements in construction
  • Research the cost of items such as materials, transport, labor, and equipment
  • Establish and maintain relationships with contractors and vendors
  • Get quotes from suppliers and contractors within a specified time frame
  • Assess the risk levels associated with a project
  • Prepare and submit quotations and details of costs for work to be done
Qualifications:
  • The ability to work under pressure to meet bid deadlines, budgets, and goals
  • Strong analytical math skills, including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic
  • The ability to read and navigate specifications and plans and develop cost estimates and leveling subcontractor bids and analyzing scope over/underlap
  • Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments at once and prepare Invitation to Bid for Trade Contractor participation
  • Personable communication skills are valuable and expected, especially with customers and trade contractors
  • Knowledge of the latest building codes
  • Close attention to detail
