Job Summary

OU Health is seeking a highly skilled Anesthesia Technician to join our team in the Pediatric Anesthesiology department. As an Anesthesia Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our operating rooms by maintaining and distributing anesthesia equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily inspections of anesthesia machines and equipment to ensure cleanliness and operational readiness.
  • Decontaminate anesthesia machines and sterilize equipment and devices to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
  • Assemble anesthesia equipment and set up machines according to established protocols and age-appropriate criteria for scheduled cases.
  • Ensure the operating room is cleaned and stocked for use, and maintain adequate records of receipt and issuance of supplies and equipment.
  • Order and stock anesthesia medications and supplies, and review stored medications to ensure expired items are properly discarded.
  • Maintain an adequate level of anesthesia gas, store and distribute cylinders, and provide charged transport monitors for all patients.
  • Observe and report equipment malfunctions or unsafe environments, and perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • 6 months of experience in a surgical setting, medical supply, or equipment inventory, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • BLS (American Heart Association) certification upon hire.
  • Knowledge of anesthesia methods and procedures in the operating room, as well as basic inventory control.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain a good working relationship with coworkers and staff.
