Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Workers Compensation Claims Assistant to support our claims department. The ideal candidate will assist in the processing, administration, and management of workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Claims Processing: Assist in the intake and setup of new workers compensation claims, including gathering and verifying information from employees, employers, and medical providers.
  • Documentation Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date claim files, including scanning, filing, and organizing documents. Ensure all documentation is complete, timely, and in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between injured employees, employers, medical providers, and insurance carriers. Provide updates on claim status and follow up on outstanding documentation or information.
  • Data Entry: Accurately input claim information into the claims management system, updating records as new information becomes available within established timeframes.
  • Reporting: Assist in the preparation of claims reports, including tracking claims status, costs, and trends. Prepare ad hoc reports as requested by the Claims Manager.
  • Payment Processing: Assist in processing and verifying payments related to workers compensation claims, including medical bills, indemnity benefits, and other related expenses.
  • Compliance: Ensure all claims handling processes comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies. Keep up to date with changes in workers' compensation laws and regulations.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to all stakeholders involved in the workers' compensation process, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  • Team Support: Provide administrative support to the claims team, including scheduling appointments, coordinating medical evaluations, and preparing correspondence.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an administrative or clerical role, preferably within insurance claims or a related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with an attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Customer/client service driven with a proven track record of working well in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Basic knowledge of workers' compensation laws and regulations is a plus.
