Our Opportunity

We are seeking a Managing Geotechnical Engineer to join our Civil Engineering Practice in Oakland, CA. In this role, you will work as part of a team responsible for developing and executing geotechnical engineering projects. This position offers technically challenging work with excellent opportunities for growth and development within the firm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct analyses of geotechnical and civil engineering systems
  • Evaluate construction claims related to ground conditions, earthwork, and earth structures
  • Prepare conceptual designs for the repair/restoration of geotechnical systems
  • Perform peer reviews
  • Lead project teams on the execution of project deliverables
  • Develop project work with new and existing clients
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university with 5+ years experience or M.S. in Civil Engineering specializing in Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university plus 10 years experience
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated success in independently developing and managing client relationships
  • Attention to detail, dedication to quality and accuracy, desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven track record of effective leadership skills
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals or conference proceedings or demonstrated leadership or activity in geotechnical professional societies
  • Past record of excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Current licensed professional civil engineer in at least one state with ability to become licensed in multiple other states

Compensation

Our consultants are rewarded for their technical and business contributions and have an opportunity to plan for future success and career growth. Exponent's total compensation plan is consistent with its expectations of the quality and quantity of work performed and with the professional standards set by Exponent.

The base salary range for this position is dependent on experience and capabilities, which will be assessed during the interview process.

The salary range for this position is USD $130,000.00 to USD $175,000.00 per year.
