Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Worker to join our team at Deming Public Schools. As a Food Service Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health and safety of our students by preparing and serving quality food in a clean and sanitary environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve a variety of quality foods to students at school food service sites under optimal sanitary conditions.
  • Load and unload trucks, clean up, and return materials and undistributed foods.
  • Supervise student workers and perform one or several food service operations, including general kitchen help, cafeteria serving, and assisting in food preparation.
  • Maintain personal hygiene and hygienic serving conditions in accordance with the New Mexico environmental code.
  • Operate a variety of food preparation and service equipment, including steam tables and serving lines.
  • Perform daily cleaning of all kitchen equipment to ensure cleanliness and sanitary conditions are met.
  • Maintain order and safety in the kitchen and cafeteria.
  • Wash dishes and trays, clean, sweep, and mop food service areas.
  • Complete and maintain records, such as temperature logs and student meal counts.
  • Oversee students assisting with food service and perform daily laundry.
  • May operate food delivery vehicles during the summer lunch program.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver's license for the operation of a school vehicle.
  • Health certifications for food handling as required.
  • CPR/First Aid certification.
  • Civil rights training.
  • Mandated district training.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a clean and safe work area.
Working Conditions

The work environment is typically moderate, with occasional exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and physical demands. The employee must be able to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for extended periods.
