Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Nursing Director to join our team at Jefferson County Schools. As a key member of our school health services team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and direction to our nursing programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and supervision to nursing staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality health services to students and staff.
  • Develop and implement effective health services training programs for nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with community and state healthcare services to ensure seamless delivery of health services.
  • Manage and evaluate all functions of school and district nursing programs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with school administrators, teachers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of health services.
Requirements
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) with Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Valid license from the Alabama Board of Nursing to practice as a registered nurse.
  • Valid CPR card.
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful nursing experience, with school nursing experience preferred.
  • Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No.
  • Ability to use technology to communicate, manage data, and produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial information related to health services.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of current general medical and pediatric nursing practices.
  • Knowledge of effective procedures and practices for vision, hearing, and other appropriate health screening activities.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills in group settings.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to relate complex medical and technical concepts.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills.
