GENERAL SUMMARY & PURPOSE

The City of Fate is looking for a meticulous and dependable Building Permit Coordinator to join our team. This role is essential in managing the increasing demands of our rapidly expanding community. The Building Safety Department plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, quality, and adherence to regulations of new development initiatives.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Director of Community Services and Building Safety, including preparing and reviewing documents, managing appointments, and organizing meeting spaces.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by addressing inquiries via phone, in-person, and email, guiding the public on policies and procedures related to permits and city services.
  • Process and issue permits, notifying applicants upon readiness for collection.
  • Calculate and confirm valuations and fees, manage payments for permits, and conduct daily financial deposits.
  • Handle applications for contractor licenses and maintain communication with contractors and residents regarding the permit application software.
  • Support Building Inspectors and Code Enforcement Officers by coordinating inspections and providing necessary administrative support.
  • Maintain organized files for inspectors and manage records for department correspondence and documents.
  • Process animal licenses and oversee the Rental Registration Program, including scheduling inspections.
  • Compile, research, and summarize information for reports as required.
  • Order and maintain office supplies for the department.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of general office experience, preferably in local government.
  • Permit Technician Certification or the ability to obtain it within one year of employment.
  • Strong computer skills essential for a modern office environment.
  • Valid Texas driver's license.
  • A combination of education, training, and experience providing the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
