Senior Network Architect

Oracle is seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Developer to join our team. As a key member of our network operations team, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and operating a large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - OCI).
As a Senior Network Developer, you will primarily focus on development and support of network fabric and systems through a combination of a deep level understanding of networking at the protocol level coupled with programming skills to support the intensive automation required to operate a production environment.
You will participate in network lifecycle management through network build and/or upgrade projects, collaborate with program/project managers to develop milestones and deliverables, and serve as technical lead for team projects. You will also contribute to the development of roadmap issues, lead development of new runbooks and method of procedures, mentor junior engineers, and participate in network solution and architecture design process.
Responsibilities include developing standalone features, participating in operational rotations as either primary or secondary, providing break-fix support for events, serving as escalation point for event remediation, and leading post-event root cause analysis. You will also coordinate with networking automation services for the development and integration of support tooling and frequently develop scripts to automate routine tasks for team and business unit.
Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred and at least 3 years of related experience. Experience working in a large ISP or cloud provider environment is also required. Exposure to commodity Ethernet hardware (Broadcom/Mellanox), protocol experience with BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, TCP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, MPLS, and experience with networking protocols such as TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and SSL are also necessary.
Experience with scripting or automation and datacenter design – Python preferred, but must demonstrate knowledge in a scripting or compiled language – is also required. Experience with high-level software design/development, automation systems, framework design/use and deployment, network modeling and programming – YANG, OpenConfig, NETCONF, knowledge of network security design, system performance characterization and testing, and knowledge of data flow and telemetry design, deployment and operation are also necessary.
Excellent judgment in influence for product roadmap direction, features, and priorities, ability to work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors, and demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions are also required. Capable of working under limited supervision, excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills are also necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS or related engineer field with 1-5+ years Network Engineer experience.
- Experience working in a network operations role or experience with network troubleshooting.
- Extensive experience with scripting or automation and datacenter design – Python preferred.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GIT, and Linux.
- Strong exposure to commodity Ethernet hardware (Broadcom/Mellanox), protocol experience with BGP/OSPF/IS-IS, TCP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DHCP, IPSEC, and MACSEC.
- Experience with networking fundamentals which encompasses protocols such as TCP/IP, VPN, DNS, DHCP, and SSL.
- Experience with network monitoring and telemetry solutions.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Participate in an on-call rotation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a large ISP or cloud provider environment.
- Experience working with python for network automation and network configuration management.

US:
Hiring Range:
from $87,000 to $178,200 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Paid time off:
Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits.
For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment.
Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.

Paid sick leave: 72 hours of paid sick leave upon date of hire. Refreshes each calendar year. Unused balance will carry over each year up to a maximum cap of 112 hours.
