Job Summary

Central Plains Cement Company is seeking a highly skilled Accounting Specialist to join our team. As an Accounting Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the revenue process, raw material inventory process, procurement to payment process, and month end close. You will work closely with our accounting team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare daily check deposits and applications
• Customer contact regarding collection
• Cash balancing
• Back up resource to: weekly invoicing, process credit memos and other required adjustments

Accounts Payable Duties

• Review invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment
• Invoice entry for PO invoices and direct pay invoices
• Reconcile vendor statements, research and correct discrepancies
• Assist with other projects as needed
• Back up resource to: process weekly check runs, and ACH runs, process check requests, respond to vendor inquiries

Other Duties

• Month end close functions such as journal entries and reconciliations
• Prepare monthly USGS report
• Raw Material entry into Microsoft Excel database
• Provide information for internal and external audits
• Other general accounting duties as assigned

Requirements

• 2+ years of accounting experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required, college courses in accounting preferred
• Able to remain stationary and operate a computer at a desk for hours at a time
• Proficient in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, experience with accounting information system(s), and 10-key by touch
• Knowledge of basic accounting principles a plus
• Must have a strong work ethic, be well organized and a self-starter
• Must be reliable and detail oriented with strong skills in problem solving, documentation, research and resolution, and multi-tasking
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Ability to interact with customers and vendors in a professional manner
• Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
