The Automation Control Specialist role is an on-site opportunity with Hunt-Guillot & Associates, focusing on the oil and gas sector. Candidates should ideally be situated within a reasonable commuting distance.
The Automation Control Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting the control systems team at the facility, ensuring smooth operations while also delivering automation and PLC/DCS programming assistance for manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Modify and develop new logic to enhance process efficiency and address issues swiftly.
- Work collaboratively with the client's personnel to guarantee effective integration and functionality of control systems.
- Employ Distributed Control Systems (DCS), with a preference for familiarity with Honeywell systems.
- Monitor and evaluate process data to detect trends and initiate enhancements.
- Create and sustain control strategies and documentation for various process units.
- Engage in the design, installation, and commissioning of new control systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of control systems to reduce downtime.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
- Offer technical support and training to operators and other staff members.
- Assist in safety evaluations and risk assessments to promote safe facility operations.
Qualifications:
Requirements for the Automation Control Specialist Position:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5+ years of pertinent experience in process control engineering.
- Practical experience with coding and the capability to modify or create new logic.
- Expertise in control systems, including DCS, PLC, and HMI software, with a preference for Honeywell systems experience.
- Understanding of industry standards and best practices in process control.
- Strong grasp of process control principles and methodologies.
- Experience with process simulation tools and software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capacity to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
