Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Endoscopy Reprocessing Specialist to join our team at Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana. As a key member of our Sterile Processing Department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the availability of cleaned, prepared, and sterilized equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general and specialized instrument care duties, including disassembling, cleaning, and reassembling surgical instruments and trays.
  • Provide supplies as needed for surgical procedures, adhering to established protocols and guidelines.
  • Inspect, package, and reassemble surgical instruments and trays according to established priority.
  • Practice High Level Disinfection, Pre-Vaccuum Sterilization, Gravity Displacement Sterilization, and Hydrogen Peroxide Plasma Sterilization techniques in accordance with Manufacturer's Instructions For Use (MIFUs).
  • Maintain accurate records and document control as defined in Standard Operating Procedures, policies, and recommendations from regulatory bodies.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and efficient surgical procedures.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional degrees, business training, experience, and/or certifications may be combined to meet minimum qualifications.
  • Preferred: 2 years of experience in Sterile Processing or related field; certification through one of the following: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), Certified Sterile Processing Department Technician (CSPDT), Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER), or Certification in Surgical Technology with successful certification of internal sterile processing training course within first six months from hire.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a patient care area, with potential exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue. The incumbent must be able to stand for prolonged periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.
