Position Overview

This role is classified under the Service Contract Act (SCA). The position offers an additional $4.57/hour for SCA Health & Welfare Allowance, along with generous benefits including:

Key Responsibilities

The Food Service Worker plays a vital role in the cafeteria and/or delicatessen/bakery environment, contributing to the preparation, presentation, and serving of a variety of specialty foods, including meats, cheeses, salads, and baked goods.

The incumbent will:

  • Assist in weighing, pricing, and packaging selected food items.
  • Prepare attractive food displays in counter cases and other presentation units.
  • Welcome customers at the service counter, take special orders, and respond to inquiries regarding specialty foods.

Food Preparation Duties:

Utilizing prepped ingredients and adhering to established procedures, the Food Service Worker will:

  • Prepare hot and cold sandwiches, fruit and vegetable trays, salads, and rotisserie chicken.
  • Perform tasks such as slicing and mixing ingredients as required.
  • Maintain cleanliness by cleaning counters, trays, and washing dishes.
  • Inspect and sanitize equipment to ensure a safe working environment.

The Worker may also assist with:

  • Measuring and mixing ingredients as directed.
  • Preparing, cooking, and decorating various baked goods.
  • Receiving and storing stock from deliveries.
  • Processing customer payments and providing change.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Three years of experience in a clerical role, preferably within a dining facility.
  • A High School Diploma or GED.
