Loan Processing Specialist

Employment Type/Work Schedule
This is a full-time role. Employees are expected to adhere to a schedule established by management to support the operations of the credit union.
Key Responsibilities:
Efficiently process consumer loan applications, including online and credit card submissions. Input precise and trustworthy information into the designated database or loan management system.
Accurately assess and provide valuations for various forms of collateral. Determine the extent to which an applicant's liabilities are secured or unsecured.
Submit applications along with supporting documentation to the loan underwriting team for evaluation. Issue adverse action or counteroffer notifications as required.
Compile and present all loan and title documentation electronically or in person to members as necessary.
Verify that all paperwork includes appropriate signatures, dates, and any other pertinent information.
Conduct follow-up communications for all new loans. Clarify loan details as needed and address any inquiries from members. Discuss benefits and additional services offered by the credit union.
Monitor and maintain a record of all upcoming lease expirations, making calls as necessary.
Reach out to applicants via mail, email, or phone to collect employment or income verification documents, background information, or any other required details.
Provide daily and monthly loan servicing, which may involve initiating or modifying payroll deductions for payments, sending member payment coupons, and adjusting collateral insurance premiums on loans.
Book and fund any direct or indirect loans and leases as required.
Utilize clear and straightforward language to convey information and decisions to members in an understandable manner. Assist with any questions or concerns regarding the loan, the loan process, or the loan's status. Clearly explain lending decisions, recommendations, and relevant products/services in a timely and accurate fashion.
Process payments, including teller transactions, automatic payments, balance transfers, inquiries, and general ledger updates.
Maintain an organized filing system to ensure all documents are accurately filed in accordance with policy.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Coursework in a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of relevant experience and/or training in consumer lending is preferred.
- Two years of experience in financial services and customer support is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze complex information are essential. Organizational skills and the capacity to manage multiple tasks are necessary.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
