Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Scribe to join our team at Emergency Medicine Associates. As a Medical Scribe, you will play a critical role in providing clinical documentation support to our emergency medicine physicians and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accompany clinicians into patient rooms and transcribe dictations/notes in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Actively listen to conversations between clinicians and other healthcare providers, patients, and family members, and document relevant information into the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Document clinician and patient encounters into the EMR, ensuring that all necessary information is captured and up-to-date.
  • Seek out missing information from clinicians to complete the physician chart, and gather and input pertinent patient information from external sources.
  • Place phone calls to physician offices, pharmacies, and other healthcare providers as requested by clinicians.
  • Keep clinicians informed of resulting diagnostics and troubleshoot delays in those results.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of science or clinical coursework at the undergraduate level or above required. Work experience in a direct patient care clinical setting may be considered in lieu of science or clinical coursework.
  • Work, volunteer, or shadowing experience in the healthcare field required. Experience in a direct patient care environment preferred (e.g. medical scribe, patient care technician, medical assistant, EMT).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Superb listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
  • Ability to type 50 words per minute adjusted for errors.
