Job Title: Instructor Specialist

Job Summary:

The Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections is seeking an Instructor Specialist to join our team at the Lewiston Facility. As an Instructor Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and implementing educational programs for youth in a rehabilitation/treatment setting. You will work closely with the treatment team to determine treatment goals and develop individualized educational plans. You will also be responsible for teaching academic and vocational skills to youth, as well as providing guidance and support to help them achieve their goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, and implement educational programs for youth in a rehabilitation/treatment setting.
  • Work closely with the treatment team to determine treatment goals and develop individualized educational plans.
  • Teach academic and vocational skills to youth, including reading, writing, math, and life skills.
  • Provide guidance and support to help youth achieve their goals, including helping them to develop self-esteem, academic knowledge, and vocational skills.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of youth in the educational program, making adjustments as needed.
  • Communicate with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders to keep them informed of the youth's progress and to involve them in the educational process.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field.
  • Valid Idaho teaching certification or equivalent.
  • Experience working with youth in a rehabilitation/treatment setting.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including youth with special needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Working Conditions:

The Instructor Specialist will work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse population of youth. The position requires the ability to work effectively in a team setting, as well as independently. The Instructor Specialist will be required to travel to various locations within the facility and to participate in training and professional development opportunities.
