About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Support Staff - Paraprofessional to join our team at Clayton County Public Schools. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in providing educational opportunities for students in various disciplines.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will work under general supervision, serving as a support to the assigned classroom teacher or instructional area. Key responsibilities include providing support to selected students, conducting small group or individual classroom activities, and performing special duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to selected students in resource, self-contained, regular classroom and/or in school suspension settings, etc.
  • Conduct small group or individual classroom activities with students based on lesson plans developed by the teacher.
  • Provides language translations service as needed.
  • Assists with preparation of materials for instruction (including the copying/duplicating of materials, construction of bulletin boards, grading work, etc.).
  • Performs special duties as required for meeting the unique needs of specific student populations; e.g., lifting physically disabled students, toileting/personal hygiene assistance, using physical restraints or other specialized behavior management techniques.
  • Types and processes correspondence, reports, orders, circulation, and catalog cards.
  • Operates the computerized circulation system and records.
  • Files catalog cards, vertical file material, and order cards.
  • Assists in the inventory of materials and equipment.
  • Assumes responsibility for the operation of the media center and supervision of students in the approved absence of the media specialist.

Requirements

The ideal candidate must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Hold an associate's degree or higher in any subject from a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution.
  • Have completed two (2) years of college coursework (sixty [60] semester hours or [90] quarter hours) above the remedial level with a grade of 'C' or better at a GaPSC-accepted accredited institution.
  • Have passed the GACE Paraprofessional Assessment and hold a minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Salary Information

This is a grade 16, 190-day position that starts at a step 6 and pays up to a step 8, based on experience. The estimated annual salary for this position is approximately $36,000 - $43,000.
