Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-depth review and analysis of complex partnership state tax returns.
  • Serve as a Career Advisor by providing mentorship or coaching to one or more employees, including providing honest and timely performance feedback.
  • Train and develop staff members to enhance their skills and expertise.
  • Work on multiple complex issues while communicating effectively with clients and the service team to manage risk and facilitate communication.
  • Serve as the state tax client service coordinator for appropriate clients.
  • Advise clients on a full spectrum of state tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and general mergers and acquisitions activities.
    • Review research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards.
    • Assist with new business development, extended service, and tax issue recognition for existing clients.
    • Manage corporate client needs with respect to tax services and state tax compliance.
    • Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
      • Some travel may be required, depending on location and client needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience in business taxation working for a Big 4 or a large national, regional, or local accounting firm.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • Active CPA, Enrolled Agent, or Licensed JD.
  • Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or collect necessary information for tax service requirements.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of state tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance.
  • Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation, with industry specialization a plus.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

At RSM US LLP, an employee's pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions, including education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $137,700 - $276,700

Individuals selected for this role will be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on firm and individual performance.
