Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Surgical Technologist I to join our team at Highmark Health. As a Surgical Technologist I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our surgical suites.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pre-Surgical Preparation: Assist in setting up the surgical operating suite with the necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Aseptic Techniques: Utilize proper aseptic techniques and practices standard precautions to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
  • Patient Preparation: Assist with preparing, positioning, and draping patients, and participate in the surgical pause to ensure correct patient and surgical site identification.
  • Surgeon Support: Understand, anticipate, and adapt to surgeon preferences and patient care variables, and contribute to updating surgeon preference materials.
  • Counting and Inventory: Perform sponge, needle, and instrument count to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Resource Management: Care for and utilize resources to promote a cost-effective and efficient environment for patients.
Qualifications
  • Education: One year certificate from a college or technical school, or three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certification: Surgical Technologist (ST) hired after 12/29/2020 must successfully complete a Surgical Technologist program sponsored by an entity holding nationally recognized institutional or programmatic accreditation and maintain a surgical technologist certification from an accredited certification program.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience: 1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
