Minimum Qualifications:
Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Engineering or a related field, along with eight (8) years of engineering experience acquired before and/or after obtaining a professional engineer license.

Licenses or Certifications:
Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas; or if currently licensed in another state, must be able to secure a Texas P.E. license within six (6) months of employment.

Position Overview:
This role involves specifying or advising on regulatory technical requirements, design standards, and related issues for design criteria associated with civil, traffic, stormwater, or structural engineering. As a technical subject matter expert (SME), you will consult with Architecture and Engineering (A/E) firms, ensuring that preliminary and final designs conform to established standards, master plans, building codes, and other regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities include reviewing construction progress reports, shop drawings, material lists, and samples. You will collaborate with design teams on contractor-submitted items to ensure design intent is achieved while adhering to established standards. The ability to apply engineering principles to review, coordinate, and advise on infrastructure project designs throughout the Planning, Design, and Construction phases is essential.

As a representative of the Design Management team, you will serve as the SME for projects involving design, building code regulations, facilities improvements, and enhancing passenger experience to support airport operations. You will coordinate and/or perform tasks related to the programming phase of projects, identifying user needs and requirements while engaging with relevant stakeholders for input and feedback.

A skills assessment will be required for this position.

Travel:
If selected for this role and meeting the Driver Safety Standards, you may be required to drive to multiple locations as part of your regular job duties.

Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:

Approves, processes, and seals plans, specifications, or construction documents by applying engineering standardization of practices and principles of highly technical and complex calculations for applied discipline within local and state regulatory requirements.Manages engineering projects that are technically complex and highly visible, requiring a high level of technical proficiency as well as coordinative and administrative responsibility.Identifies, evaluates, and provides improvement recommendations for preliminary and final designs and design criteria for assigned programs or projects that may be complex and non-routine.Develops cost estimates, tracks expenditures, and prepares engineering and feasibility reports and studies for projects.Reviews plans and approves permits by applying complex engineering standardization of practices and principles for applied discipline within local and state regulatory requirements.Inspects and monitors projects for legal compliance by reviewing work completed by contractors and ensuring compliance with specifications.Leads activities of a design team in the preparation of preliminary and long-range plans, schedules, estimates, budgets, detailed final construction plans, specifications, and agreements.Conducts field inspections of work done by contractors to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.Researches and performs statistical analysis for validation of reports and publication of results in various communication formats.Develops standard operating procedures, policies, and ordinances for various contracts or projects.Is responsible for designing and maintaining database systems for project or program areas.Prepares and delivers presentations to the public or relevant stakeholders.Responsibilities - Supervision and/or Leadership Exercised:

  • Ability to perform complex engineering computations accurately.
  • Ability to interpret and explain maps and related documents.
  • Ability to coordinate the efforts of a multi-discipline, multi-agency project team.

  • Ability to organize, analyze, interpret, and evaluate scientific civil engineering problems.
