As a Patient Access Specialist PRN at AH Rocky Mountain, you will be responsible for ensuring patients are appropriately registered for all service lines. This includes performing eligibility verification, obtaining pre-cert and/or authorizations, making financial arrangements, requesting, and receiving payments for services, performing cashiering functions, clearing registration errors, and editing pre-bill, and other duties as required.

Collaboration and Communication

You will maintain a close working relationship with clinical partners to ensure continual open communication between clinical, ancillary, and patient access departments. You will actively participate in extending exemplary service to both internal and external customers and accept responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Authorization and Verification

You will obtain pre-authorizations from third-party payers in accordance with payer requirements and within established timeframes before scheduled appointments and during or after care for unscheduled patients. You will accurately enter required authorization information in AdventHealth systems to include length of authorization, total number of visits, and/or units of medication.

Problem-Solving and Accuracy

You will conduct diligent follow-up on missing or incomplete pre-authorizations with third-party payers to minimize authorization-related denials through phone calls, emails, faxes, and payer websites, updating documentation as needed. You will correct demographic, insurance, or authorization-related errors and pre-bill edits. You will meet or exceed accuracy standards and ensure integrity of patient accounts by working error reports as requested by leadership and entering appropriate and accurate data.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need a High School Grad or Equivalent and 1 plus years of experience. Preferred qualifications include an Associate's degree, one year of relevant healthcare experience, prior collections experience, one year of customer service experience, one year of direct Patient Access experience, understanding of HIPAA privacy rules, and ability to use discretion when discussing patient-related information that is confidential in nature as needed to perform duties.
