Job Title: Child Support Specialist

International School of Louisiana is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Child Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our instructional staff, you will provide one-on-one support and assistance to a specific child in accordance with their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Shadow and provide one-on-one support to a specific child throughout the school day to achieve academic goals specified in the IEP.
  • Ensure the student's academic and behavioral needs are being met.
  • Monitor the student's daily schedule and IEP to ensure a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Focus on instructional activities to ensure the student is focused, engaged in the learning process, and mastering critical skills.
  • Develop critical skills that will ultimately lead to greater independence.
  • Facilitate positive social interactions between the child and other children in the classroom.
  • Assist and escort the student to and from each destination and attend to the student's special needs.
  • Assist the teacher in the communication of student progress.
  • Monitor student behavior and maintain documentation of care provided to the child.
  • Establish positive and professional relationships with faculty, parents, and students.
  • Meet professional expectations required such as attendance, professional development, teamwork, etc.
  • Interact collaboratively and productively with school site personnel.
  • Express thoughts professionally in oral and written language.
  • Possess adequate technology skills.
  • Keep abreast of current research, trends, and issues in education by engaging in professional development activities.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintain compliance with all school policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree and/or 3 years' experience working with children in an educational environment.
  • Preferred Skills and Management Experience.
  • Computer/Technology knowledge and skills.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
