Position Overview: The Senior Structural Engineer will oversee structural design project teams to deliver exceptional designs for a diverse range of projects, including energy, industrial, healthcare, aviation, educational, and governmental facilities. This role entails guiding the project team throughout the design and construction phases, adjusting structural plans to meet budgetary constraints, design specifications, or client requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct the structural design of projects from initial concept through to design completion, ensuring alignment with project managers' specifications.
  • Generate specifications and data sheets for structural equipment, including packaged equipment, and manage Requests for Qualifications (RFQs), technical bid summaries, and procurement recommendations.
  • Evaluate vendor drawings and facilitate data exchange with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Contribute to the development of project schedules, scopes, budgets, staffing plans, and construction strategies, ensuring effective management of change orders.
  • Utilize expert knowledge of structural concepts, practices, codes, and procedures prevalent in the structural engineering sector.
  • Apply experience to complex projects, identifying innovative design solutions.
  • Conduct quality reviews of production drawings and project-related data as required by project managers, ensuring accuracy in multiple CAD software.
  • Oversee construction administration, coordinating with field personnel to address design-related installation challenges, calculations, field inspections, and material testing.
  • Lead field inspections, installations, measurements, or calculations for both public and private sector clients.
  • Prepare and deliver technical reports for clients and industry publications.
  • Foster strong relationships with existing clients, customers, and contractors while identifying new business opportunities, ensuring customer satisfaction goals are achieved.
  • Engage in sales and marketing initiatives and pinpoint key pursuits.
  • Steer the development of cost proposals and qualification statements to meet financial performance targets.
  • Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates, reporting on project performance.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and guidance to the structural engineering team, supporting the development of less experienced engineers.
  • Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes.
  • Facilitate effective communication with other engineering disciplines.
  • Comply with company and site safety policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or a related field from an ABET-accredited program, or a Bachelor of Science in Structural or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program, with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • A Master's degree in Structural Engineering is advantageous.
  • A minimum of 7 years of structural engineering experience, with a preference for EPC project experience.
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures, along with strong familiarity with structural design codes (e.g., IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE7). Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in leading discipline design for large projects and delegating tasks effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking abilities, with a methodical and analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong attention to detail, with skills in facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving.
  • Capability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
