High School Assistant Principal Position

The Assistant Principal will play a vital role in supporting and leading a culture of high expectations for academics and behavior. This individual will interact with students in a constructive manner, encouraging each to perform at their highest level. The Assistant Principal will maintain positive relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers, business partners, and other related agencies. They will participate in district-wide and school-wide activities, including student discipline, leading and assisting the supervision of after school events, and demonstrating skills and experience as an instructional leader. The ideal candidate will have an unwavering commitment to advocate for the needs of all students, confidence in leading staff conversations around equity, unconscious bias, and achievement gap data, and the ability to work with staff to analyze student achievement data and improve instruction.
Responsibilities:
- Support and lead a culture of high expectations for academics and behavior

Requirements:
- Valid State of Michigan teaching certificate
- Michigan School Administrators certificate or be enrolled in a program leading to certification as a school administrator not later than 6 months after employment
- Master's Degree preferably in Educational Leadership, School Administration, or Curriculum
- Three years of successful administrative experience preferred
- Minimum of five years of successful secondary teaching experience
- Demonstrated collaborative leadership experience in instruction and curriculum
- Superior communication skills
- Current professional development in best practices in teaching and learning

- Leadership experience working with diverse populations and special needs students
- Skilled in leading school improvement and applying data to initiate specific instructional change
- Knowledge and experience in closing the achievement gap using research and evidence-based instruction
- Experience evaluating instructional and support staff that will improve teaching and learning
- Proficient use of student information systems
- Evidence of ability to positively affect school culture and create an open, enthusiastic, and well-organized teaching and learning environment
- Collaborative leadership experience and in-depth knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment
- Experience with restorative discipline
