We are in search of a Water Resources Intern with no prior experience for our team. This role may involve fieldwork in the surrounding areas.


Kleinfelder is offering a rewarding paid internship opportunity aimed at students for a duration of three months, providing hands-on experience in a supportive environment.

This internship will expose you to a variety of engineering projects while working alongside a team that prioritizes learning and development.

There is potential for future full-time employment.

Under the guidance of seasoned engineers, scientists, and planners, the intern will assist with various engineering support tasks related to water resources initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
Assisting with field inspections and data gathering pertaining to water distribution systems

Utilizing AutoCAD/Civil 3D for drafting

Conducting engineering calculations

Assisting in the preparation of engineering documentation and reports

Researching and preparing necessary permit applications


The intern will gain valuable exposure to projects involving Drinking Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, and site design, and may participate in site visits to observe ongoing projects.


Applicants should be enrolled in an accredited civil or environmental engineering program and have completed at least two years towards a Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or water resources engineering.


We seek candidates with a strong interest in pursuing a career in water/wastewater engineering, demonstrated through relevant coursework or experience in hydraulics, hydrology, and fundamental engineering principles.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, along with a self-motivated attitude, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment. Candidates should be available to work a minimum of 16 hours per week, with the possibility of weekend and evening work.

Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D is advantageous. Kleinfelder is committed to accommodating your academic schedule during your internship.


A successful candidate will adhere to established procedures, perform precise calculations, and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors.

Additionally, the candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills, operate with varying levels of supervision, and may be tasked with additional responsibilities such as field investigations or assisting in construction oversight.

The anticipated salary range for this position is in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, with final compensation determined by individual qualifications and experience.

Salary Range:
$57,500 - $79,448.
