Epic Solution Architect

The Epic Solution Architect plays a vital role in shaping how we leverage Epic Systems to enhance patient care, streamline operations, and achieve our strategic goals. This position requires a deep understanding of both technical and healthcare aspects, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic healthcare IT environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Epic Expertise: Serve as a clinical expert on Epic Systems, including modules related to core EpicCare Ambulatory and Inpatient support. Guide our organization in effectively leveraging these tools for optimal patient care and administrative functions.
  • Solution Design: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement Epic-based solutions that meet the unique needs of Baylor Scott & White Health. This includes customization, configuration, and integration with other third-party applications.
  • Technical Consulting: Provide expert guidance to portfolio owners on solution design, scoping calibration, and validation of enhancements and potential projects within the clinical team's purview.
  • System Optimization: Proactively review technical setup for critical architecture and configuration. Identify opportunities for optimization and improvement, articulating the required level of effort and benefits associated with each potential enhancement.
  • Integration: Oversee the integration of Epic with new and existing third-party systems to ensure a seamless and efficient long-term approach.
  • Portfolio Health: Continuously evaluate and optimize Epic modules to enhance efficiency, usability, and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, changes, and best practices for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with vendors, project managers, and other stakeholders to drive successful Epic projects and implementations within Baylor Scott & White Health.
