Job Summary and Qualifications

The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) provides high-quality, patient-centered care while coordinating all unit functions. Collaborating with the management team, the CNL monitors and assesses nursing care in line with established policies. The CNL acts as a resource for staff and enhances the overall patient experience.

The Stroke/Brain unit delivers comprehensive, advanced care and treatment aimed at minimizing the impact of strokes, aiding patients in regaining their health and functionality, and maximizing their capabilities to return to their daily lives. Designated by The Joint Commission as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and recognized by the State of Missouri as a Level 1 Time Critical Diagnosis Center of Excellence, Research Medical Center's Stroke Center serves over 1,200 stroke patients annually from the Kansas City area and surrounding regions.

  • Enhanced coordination of care and discharge planning with the support of neurology, therapies (PT/OT/ST), case management, rehabilitation, and nursing.
  • 16-bed unit dedicated to Comprehensive Stroke Patients.

Responsibilities in this role include:

  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, assess, customize, and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Assisting with admission and discharge processes.
  • Partnering with subject matter experts and leadership to support improved outcomes and service delivery.
  • Providing coaching, feedback, and training to enhance performance and engagement.
  • Assisting with staff scheduling.
Required Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse licensure.
  • Diploma in Nursing.
