Job Description

BESIX Watpac is seeking a highly skilled Project Safety Coordinator to join their team for a large meat-processing facility project in Rockhampton.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Project Manager in developing and implementing the Project Safety Management Plan.
  • Conduct operational audits, site observations, and inspections, as well as facilitate toolbox talks.
  • Investigate all injuries, illnesses, and notifiable incidents that occur at the BESIX Watpac workplace or through BESIX Watpac activities related to the project.
  • Assist in developing and implementing emergency procedures for the project.
  • Facilitate consultation with workers and other duty holders, including employees of subcontractors.
  • Maintain project records in accordance with BESIX Watpac's National Safety Management System.
  • Assist in reviewing Subcontractor OHS performance at the start of the contract through to completion of contract.
Qualifications
  • Certificate IV, Diploma, or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Prior project experience in a Safety Advisor or Coordinator capacity within commercial construction.
  • Ability to communicate, influence, and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and work effectively within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously using initiative, sound reasoning, listening, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, including the use of Microsoft Office.
