Job Title: Lead Medical Assistant

Job Summary:

The Lead Medical Assistant will be responsible for performing all duties of a Medical Assistant and serving as a resource person to non-licensed staff. This role will act as a liaison between management and staff, providing clinical and administrative support to ensure smooth center operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leads Medical Assistants and other clinical staff, ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all tasks.
  • Monitors team performance, identifies any issues, and provides center leaders with feedback.
  • Manages and monitors team member work schedules.
  • Provides appropriate medical assistant care to patients following established standards and practices.
  • Prepares exam rooms for patients, ensuring all necessary medical tools and equipment are present and functional.
  • Assists physicians and clinicians in the ambulatory setting.
  • Liaises with medical and leadership staff to identify efficiencies in facility management.
  • Ensures proper flow of patients/doctors from check-in area to patient exam rooms.
  • Facilitates processes and procedures related to screening of walk-in patients.
  • Ensures accurate indexing of all paperwork.
  • Leads, monitors, and handles deliveries and invoices for medical products.
  • Monitors waiting time report.
  • Checks over patient schedules for transportation pickup.
  • Discharges patients in accordance with physicians' orders.
  • Inspects crash cart on a weekly basis.
  • Coordinates sending out of lab specimens.
  • Acquires reports from hospitals and urgent care centers for incoming patients.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent education (GED) required.
  • Graduation from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare vocational training.
  • Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of work experience as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician, or similar in a hospital, medical clinic, or comparable environment.
  • Prior Team Lead experience preferred.
  • Experience working with geriatric patients is a plus.
  • EMR system experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross required within the first 90 days of employment.
