Position Overview:


The Lead Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in the creation of new products, enhancement of current offerings, and analysis of competitive solutions by executing data collection, testing, and troubleshooting for a diverse range of clients.

This role involves setting up and operating testing equipment for products.

The technician will also develop innovative testing methodologies and explore external resources to research new techniques and best practices that may be beneficial.

Responsibilities include conducting tests on components for both internal and external clients and compiling reports that summarize the findings. This may necessitate independent travel to client locations for testing purposes. The technician will also assemble and evaluate prototype designs/products, providing valuable feedback to the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead Engineering Technician

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct sampling and testing of both in-house and vendor-supplied components following engineering evaluation request protocols.
Identify optimal methods for fulfilling testing requirements, including the design and development of new testing apparatus.

Establish test setups and execute specified testing procedures on selected component samples.

Utilize precision measurement tools to assess the dimensions of components according to established protocols.

Demonstrate familiarity with various data acquisition systems and techniques to accurately record test outcomes.

Document test results through comprehensive reporting and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.

Maintain the Tech Center's equipment and manage the inventory of supplies.

  • Collaborate with design engineering teams to evaluate parts under development and assemble and test product prototypes.
Measure and assemble components according to engineering specifications and provide constructive feedback based on findings.

Configure test setups, adaptors, wiring, and, if necessary, create drawings of the test configurations for future reference.

Prepare reports summarizing test outcomes.

Share insights with engineering personnel and discuss potential actions based on test results.

Assist in the design and modification of both new and existing products.

  • Contribute to ongoing cost reduction initiatives by testing new or alternative components to assess their impact on functionality or reliability.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and testing methodologies to determine their effectiveness in identifying weaknesses in current or proposed designs.
  • Engage with customers and sales representatives to address inquiries related to product operation, testing, and performance.
  • Perform housekeeping tasks related to the work area, ensuring daily maintenance, including returning tools to their designated locations and maintaining overall cleanliness.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.


Qualifications:
Lead Engineering Technician

Qualifications:
The role necessitates skills and knowledge equivalent to four years of college or trade school education, or a comparable combination of education and 6-8 years of relevant technical experience.

Note:
Equivalent education is defined as two years of closely related experience for each year of education.
