Job Summary:

The Per Diem Speech Language Pathologist provides direct and indirect patient care services under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, Speech Language Pathology. This role involves working with pediatric and adolescent patients from diverse backgrounds, as well as adults and geriatric patients. The Per Diem S.L.P. plans and administers a range of speech therapy services, including patient evaluations, goal setting, and therapeutic intervention programs. This position requires flexibility to work at various UCSF Medical Center locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and administer speech therapy services for patients with physical and cognitive impairments and disabilities.
• Conduct patient evaluations using speech language pathology tests and measurements.
• Establish therapeutic intervention goals and develop programs to achieve them.
• Implement therapeutic intervention plans utilizing all aspects of the speech language pathology scope of practice.
• Maintain patient records related to the delivery of patient care services.

Requirements:

• Possession of or proven eligibility for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist by the Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology Board of California.
• Minimum of one year of patient care experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to recognize signs of distress.
• Possession of or proven eligibility for CPR certification.
• Basic computer skills in word processing and online communication.
• Possession of good interpersonal, time management, problem-solving, and self-initiation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior speech language pathology experience in an academic medical center environment.
• Prior experience working on an interdisciplinary health provider team.
• Possession of a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology.
