Job Summary

The Fiscal Specialist 2 is a key role in the Cuyahoga County, OH, finance department, responsible for planning and coordinating fiscal and budget activities for a County department or specialized fiscal section of a division. This position requires a high level of autonomy and responsibility, with a focus on technical and project-oriented work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and monitor technical and administrative duties in support of financial activities and operations, including managing fiscal programs, projects, and grants.
  • Prepare, process, and review expense adjustments, appropriation adjustments, budget transfers, requisitions, and purchase orders.
  • Research, collect, and compile information to prepare and maintain technical records and reports related to fiscal activities and operations.
  • Oversee preparation and maintenance of records, reports, and studies related to fiscal activities and operations, ensuring compliance with department guidelines and county, state, and federal regulations.
  • Receive, review, and complete processing of daily deposits and payments, including invoices, wire payments, revenue receipts, and vouchers.
  • Adjust, balance, and reconcile accounts, bank statements, petty cash funds, and deposits.
  • Monitor and track expenditures, ensuring proper coding of revenues, expenditures, and adjustments in database.
  • Control funds distributions to various accounts, monitor contracts and contract activities for program compliance, and monitor reimbursement of monies or expenditure of funds for state and federal programs.
  • Research payment and reimbursement discrepancies and past due and problem invoices, and resolve.
Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field is required, along with one year of accounting, finance, or budget management experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial principles, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
