Job Summary

Spectrum Health Services, Inc is seeking a highly skilled Public Health Dental Hygienist to join our team. As a key member of our dental department, you will be responsible for providing direct oral hygiene and preventive services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the oral health management of all clinic patients, ensuring they receive the best possible care.
  • Conduct baseline oral hygiene assessments and record patient-hygienist transactions in the patient's dental record.
  • Provide oral health education and individual counseling to patients, empowering them to take control of their oral health.
  • Deliver clinical oral hygiene services, including dental prophylaxis, scaling, sealant application, and fluoride application, in accordance with accepted professional practices and standards.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to integrate patient dental hygiene care with overall health management.
  • Organize and perform preventive oral health presentations at on-site and off-site locations, promoting healthy habits and awareness.
  • Assist in the provision of technical assistance and health education in the community, as requested.
  • Participate in the quality assurance program of the Dental Department, ensuring excellence in patient care.
  • Perform independent procedures as delegated and directed by a dentist, in accordance with state regulations and law.
  • Assist in maintaining all Dental Department areas, adhering to infection control, exposure control, and safety protocols.
  • Respond to professional matters, clinic business, and patient care inquiries, ensuring timely and effective communication.
  • Support various clinical and administrative functions of the center, as needed.
  • Ensure proper disposal of contaminated or potentially contaminated materials, adhering to Dental Department directives and center policies.
  • Comply with the center's Exposure Control Plan, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Travel when necessary to meet operational needs, representing Spectrum Health Services, Inc with professionalism and expertise.
  • Adhere to all applicable federal, state, local, and center rules, regulations, protocols, and procedures governing the practice of dental hygiene and clinical provision of dental hygiene services.

Requirements:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent
  • Licensed to practice Oral Hygiene in Pennsylvania
  • Public Health Certified or in the process of obtaining
  • Current CPR Certification
  • 2-4 years' experience as a dental hygienist
