Job Title: Display Power Silicon Architect

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work on the forefront of power management innovations, collaborating with a talented team of engineers and designers to create groundbreaking display power architectures and technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive innovative display power architecture and technology concepts, defining PMICs from investigation, analysis, and design through successful product-level implementation.
  • Investigate and arbitrate various options with technical rigor for key power metric performance optimization, including efficiency, power density, cost, reduced carbon footprint, and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Apple's display silicon architecture team to define new ideas and architectures for mobile devices and computers.
  • Work with cross-functional teams and power vendors to develop custom PMIC definitions and developments.
  • Perform rigorous design reviews with silicon vendors, driving vendors to deliver high-quality products within challenging schedules.
  • Provide design simulation, calculation, and analytical models for predicting design concept outcomes, including control loop stability, transient responses, layout analysis, and parasitic extractions.
  • Develop PMIC specifications, simulation test cases, and validation test plans/results.
  • Conduct power seminars and training for cross-functional teams.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of B.S. Degree in EE or related field and 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in power supply design, DC-DC IC architectures, magnetic design, PCB layout, and/or state-of-the-art techniques for integration and efficiency optimizations.
  • Proficiency in Spice and/or behavioral simulation tools, Matlab, MathCad, Cadence, and Excel mathematical analysis.
  • Deep knowledge of silicon physics and silicon processes, including IC packaging technologies and DC-DC power conversion topologies, including control loops.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to guide critical decisions.
  • Good understanding of thermals, mechanical, and packaging challenges.
  • Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing technologies and production variance.
  • Familiarity with challenges of mixed-signal IC design.
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and a proven track record of working in fast-paced innovative work environments.

At Apple, we offer a competitive base pay range of $166,600 to $296,300, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through our discretionary employee stock programs.
