Position Overview:

The Biological Sciences department is seeking a dedicated Research Scholar specializing in cell and molecular biology. This role involves overseeing intricate projects focused on comparative immunogenetics and immunotoxicology, utilizing both novel and established 'omics databases, as well as zebrafish and cell culture methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will engage in a variety of complex and independent tasks, including:

  • Utilizing molecular biology techniques such as RT-PCR and plasmid design.
  • Managing zebrafish husbandry and cell culture operations.
  • Recruiting, training, and supervising undergraduate research assistants.
  • Coordinating the storage of biological specimens.
  • Overseeing lab safety compliance and documentation.
  • Identifying potential challenges and adapting procedures as necessary.
  • Providing technical support and guidance to staff.
  • Assisting in budget preparation and monitoring expenditures.
  • Contributing to a collaborative and inclusive lab environment.
Additional Duties:

The Research Scholar will also:

  • Assist in developing research projects and hypotheses.

Qualifications:
