Job Description

Job Title: Preconstruction Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join our team at Flatiron Construction Corp. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing preconstruction activities for heavy civil project pursuits in our Northern California District.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage project pursuits by working closely with proposal manager, lead estimator, business development manager, and project sponsor.
  • Work with the Business Development team to identify opportunities, recommend partnerships for company pursuit, and coordinate partnership teams to submit proposals within prescribed budgets and timelines.
  • Develop and manage pursuit timeline and deliverables, attend all schedule and proposal meetings to ensure submission will include all necessary data and documentation.
  • Review design schedule and construction plans to identify cost savings opportunities within the contract specifications by adjusting quantities, estimate materials, or alternative construction methods.
  • Work with design managers to develop the best possible technical solution.
  • Develop project-specific client management strategy. Manage client expectations and communication based on contract specifications and needs of the Owner.
  • Work closely with engineers and estimators to develop the budget and secure the final bid price for the pursuit.
  • Support the project hand-off between the bid and construction teams to ensure proper execution of construction plans and client expectations. Support project management team with client relations during the initial phases of project construction, as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of company's values and strategic plan.
  • Perform additional assignments per management's direction.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years' experience related to heavy civil project pursuits, including estimating, project management, or business development required.
  • Alternative delivery experience required.
  • Able to identify and interpret risk strategies.
  • Developed influence and negotiation skills, proven with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience leading partnering and teaming agreements.
  • Understanding of cost estimating practices, development, and implementation.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills required.
