Protein Applications Specialist

Job Summary: Wixon is seeking a highly skilled Food Scientist to join our team in St. Francis, WI. As a Food Scientist – Protein Applications and Seasonings, you will be responsible for conducting product testing, matching seasonings and finished products, and developing new products for specific protein-based applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and reverse engineer products for customers based on ingredient, cost, performance, and sensory targets.
- Collaborate with the Meat Pilot Plant team to develop meat flavor systems for whole muscle, ground, topical application, marinades, and other applications.
- Consult with suppliers and the procurement team to determine suitable raw materials for developing quality products.
- Work closely with other department members to solicit advice and technical support on project plans.
- Determine the cost feasibility of ingredients and finished products.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in food science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Previous experience in food product development is preferred.
- Strong analytical skills, including knowledge of ingredient functionality across various food products.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with customers.
- Strong technical writing and computer skills.
