Job Summary

As a Pharmacy Technician at Walgreens, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and customer service. You will assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy, including reviewing and processing prescriptions, maintaining accurate records, and providing information to patients and customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist pharmacists in the performance of pharmacy duties, including reviewing and processing prescriptions, maintaining accurate records, and providing information to patients and customers.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
  • Assist with and coach pharmacy technicians in the operation of pharmacy systems and cashiers in the operation of the pharmacy cash registers.
  • Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, engaging customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
  • Responsible for using pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, and filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs.
  • Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow, and report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
  • Responsible for registering all related sales on assigned cash register, collecting and handling cash as required, and taking customers to the OTC aisle when possible to assist in locating products.
  • Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other clerical duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
  • Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals.
Requirements
  • Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
  • Prefer six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prefer to have prior work experience with Walgreens.
  • Prefer good math skills to fill prescriptions accurately, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Prefer good computer skills.
  • Prefer knowledge of store inventory control.
  • Prefer PTCB certification.
