Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound exams utilizing appropriate imaging equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify patient identity and review medical records for appropriateness of exam or procedure.
  • Interview patients to obtain, verify, or update medical history and assess risk factors.
  • Explain procedures to patients, including side effects of pharmaceuticals, risks, benefits, alternatives, and follow-up.
  • Set up equipment and acquire images as per script, reviewing images and making initial observations.
  • Recognize and respond to medical emergencies, providing physician-prescribed post-care instructions to patients.
  • Participate in process improvement activities, including quality of care, patient flow, reject-repeat analysis, and patient satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Sonography (S).
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) training required within the orientation period.
  • Registered in specialty within 12 months of employment.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Analytical and clinical skills to determine the most age-appropriate method of providing ultrasound services.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to deal effectively with patients and hospital personnel.
  • Technical knowledge to operate equipment, including specialized equipment and computers.
  • Ability to work productively and effectively in a complex environment.
