Role Summary:

The Technician (Packaging) is responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of an automated packaging line. This line consists of various subsystems, including vision systems, pneumatic devices, servo-driven components, vacuum generators, and conveyors, all essential for transforming intermediate products into finished goods. The technician will collaborate closely with the automation engineer to address and escalate any operational issues promptly.

Full Time, Hourly

The Technician (Packaging) will report directly to the Plant Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and manage the automated packaging line.
  • Troubleshoot and repair the packaging line to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance on the packaging equipment.
  • Ensure quality control by inspecting the output from the packaging line.
  • Adhere to all process work instructions.
  • Escalate technical issues to the Automation Engineer.
  • Comply with all company environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards.
  • Exercise stop work authority if unsafe conditions are detected.
  • Identify and suggest areas for improvement.

Expectations:

  • Work 12-hour shifts; typically 3 to 4 shifts per week on an alternating schedule.
  • All necessary tools and materials will be provided by the employer.
  • Reliable transportation is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Engage in normal physical activities such as walking, standing, bending, and reaching during shifts.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or refinery environment is preferred.
  • A willingness to learn and mentor others is essential.
  • No travel is required for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with camera systems.
  • Familiarity with conveying systems.
  • Background in troubleshooting and repairing pneumatic systems.
  • Multilingual capabilities, particularly in Mandarin Chinese, are a plus.
