About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Mortgage Operations Manager to join our team at Wintrust Financial. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading the loan processing, underwriting, and closing teams to ensure efficient and high-quality loan fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and motivate a team of loan operations professionals to achieve pipeline conversion and loan service time objectives.
  • Monitor workflows and department metrics to increase service levels while increasing staff productivity without sacrificing quality or increasing risk.
  • Oversee the coordination and implementation of third-party services, including appraisal, insurance, title, and closing, to ensure error-free and high-quality processes.
  • Manage the overall department financial management, planning, systems, and controls.
  • Meet established productivity levels and turnaround times as set by management.
  • Review weekly pipeline reports and reallocate as dictated by volume.
  • Responsible for cycle times and effectively resolving problems that arise on a daily basis.
  • Stay up-to-date on all investor, agency, FHA, VA, and loan guideline changes, as well as any overlays.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all necessary criteria for specific loan types, products, rates, and fee structures.
  • Ensure that all relevant policies, procedures, internal controls, and processes are kept up-to-date and meet all regulatory and other requirements.
  • Responsible for QA high findings percentage.
  • Contribute to short- and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team.
  • Create and maintain a team environment among loan officers and processing staff to complete transactions timely and efficiently.
  • Monitor file flow to ensure SLAs and KPIs are consistently met or exceeded.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency by taking on immediate issues and concerns as needed.
  • Monitor and improve/maintain customer statistics.
  • Responsible for closing times.
  • Responsible for employee engagement initiatives and results.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a finance-related major or related work experience.
  • 7-10 years of experience in mortgage operations fulfillment with a proven track record in leadership, mentoring, and management.
  • Strong underwriting background.
  • Knowledge of fulfillment operations on a national scale with experience supporting multiple customers.
  • Knowledge of all legal and regulatory aspects for mortgage operations.
