About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Department Manager to join our team at REI. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team of retail professionals and driving sales growth through effective management and coaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership: Plan, identify, communicate, and delegate responsibilities to team members to ensure seamless execution of daily operations.
  • Training and Development: Handle training, coaching, recognition, and performance management to develop top performers and drive business results.
  • Visual Direction: Direct the execution of our core standards and overall visual direction to create an engaging and inspiring shopping experience.
  • Sales Growth: Drive sales through all channels by maximizing selling behaviors and making business adaptations to increase sales and service.
  • Communication: Communicate key company strategies and changes to teams as needed to ensure alignment and understanding.
  • Talent Development: Recruit and develop diverse talent from within and outside the organization to build a high-performing team.
  • Culture Building: Inspire a customer-centric culture by recognizing and rewarding team members and fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity.
  • Performance Management: Develop top performers and evaluate performance, provide coaching and feedback to drive business results.
  • Team Building: Build teams through effective employee development, involvement, and communication to drive business success.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3+ years of successful retail management experience (preferred)
  • Communication Skills: Enjoys communicating and building relationships, both inside and outside the organization
  • Adaptability: Open to feedback and other viewpoints in the spirit of supporting the business
  • Problem-Solving: Uses business understanding, innovative thinking, and sound judgment to solve problems
  • Recommendations: Makes solid recommendations by combining information from various sources
  • Productivity: Produces quality work by setting effective goals and establishing priorities
  • Resource Management: Organizes and uses resources to meet deadlines, keeps others in the loop about plans and progress
  • Influence: Engages and influences others to accomplish worthwhile organizational goals
