The Employee Benefits Consultant will leverage their expertise to deliver exceptional service to clients, ensuring that all needs are met with the utmost professionalism. This role may involve managing a designated portfolio of clients or working with a company-driven account base. The Consultant is expected to fulfill service, sales, and renewal timelines, providing a superior experience that clients have come to expect.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft and submit Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to insurance providers.
  • Gather and compile client data necessary for RFPs.
  • Evaluate and interpret quotes received from insurance carriers.
  • Create precise and professional proposals/spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel for client presentations.
  • Review and audit spreadsheets prepared by fellow Consultants as required.
  • Develop communication and educational materials for clients regarding their benefits.
  • Prepare Open Enrollment documentation, including Benefit Guides, for client distribution.
  • Address client service inquiries promptly and professionally to maintain client retention.
  • Adhere to all company and departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to the Agency Operating System.
  • Manage new hire enrollments and employee terminations with insurance carriers.
  • Execute policy modifications with carriers, including employer applications and new enrollments.
  • Oversee the complete implementation process for carrier changes.
  • Conduct contract reviews to ensure compliance with insurance standards.
  • Verify the accuracy of newly issued policies before they are delivered to clients.
  • Maintain timely and professional follow-up with clients, carriers, account executives, and colleagues.
  • Keep certifications current and achieve assigned training objectives.
  • Stay informed about developments in the Life & Health insurance sector.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and EPIC software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to work autonomously.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and punctual.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Active Life & Health insurance license in North Carolina.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a licensed Life & Health Insurance role.
  • Willingness to pursue additional designations or certifications as directed.
