Position Overview

In this role, the Clinical Trials LPN will undertake essential nursing responsibilities within the Clinical Trials Office, including patient preparation, sample collection, research assistance, data management, and medication administration. This position operates under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Physician.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Preparation: Ensure patients are ready for examinations by organizing charts and positioning them appropriately.
  • Sample Collection: Gather biological samples from patients, such as blood and urine, and prepare them for analysis or transport.
  • Research Support: Collaborate with the research team on intricate procedures, including pharmacokinetic studies and biopsies, without RN oversight.
  • Data Collection: Accurately record vital signs and other health metrics, including heart rate, blood pressure, and temperature.
  • Patient Follow-Up: Schedule follow-up appointments and address routine inquiries from patients and their families.
  • Clinical Documentation: Compile and maintain all laboratory reports and patient records.
  • Medication Administration: Administer medications to patients as directed by a physician or other healthcare professionals.
  • Patient Monitoring: Observe research participants for adverse effects and assess their responses to treatment.
  • Clinical Coordination: Collaborate with the research team to manage all facets of clinical care related to the study.
  • Patient Screening: Assist in recruiting and screening patients for studies, including conducting interviews and collecting medical histories.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work with various departments to coordinate study-related procedures.
  • Additional Duties: Perform other relevant tasks as necessary to support the team effectively.
Qualifications:

Education: Completion of an accredited practical nursing program, AND:
  • A minimum of 12 months of clinical experience.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification and registration in the State of Oklahoma.

Essential Skills:
  • Comprehensive understanding of diagnostic and treatment techniques for various health conditions.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to engage effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
